We are a registered not-for-profit and operate as a social enterprise – The Drylands Foundation.

We have just released our Organic Purple Hardneck Garlic cloves for planting. This happens once a year.
This is a great variety that we have been growing, acclimatising to the Geraldton winter season, and selecting for potency and size over the last the last 17 years.Garlic likes to grow in cool weather and takes around 5-6 months to mature. It needs constant moisture and fertile soils to do well.  I will be planting ours in a couple of weeks once I am happy the hot weather has gone.  I store the planting garlic in a paper bag in the fridge. This stops it drying out and is said to give you larger cloves.We have small bags of 25 cloves available for home gardeners. $10.00 per packet. Limit 2 per customer.Check out the fb videos on our page as to how we plant our garlic if you need help.Nursery open Sundays 9.00-3.00pm

We are opening this Sunday 28th April. 9.00am -3.00pm.
Sundays is our open public day.For those of you that would like to pick up plants on other days, you can call Johnny on 0458 381628 to make a time.At the moment our sun-hardened white bag stock is mostly lowish native plants for Geraldton gardens, Norfolk Island Pines and  Marula trees. There is also some native trees and shrubs in tubestock ready.This weekend we have our famous “Tennis ball pink” passionfruit  and our organic planting GARLIC cloves available.As we are a propagation nursery and grow all our plants on site, we will be bringing more species out of the shadehouse over the winter season as they  become hardened and ready for sale.We will begin to post more regularly on various species as they become available, so keep your eye out!When you arrive, park by the big blue mailbox and walk in. Hi folks,
Over the last couple of years I have propagated and grafted a lot of Marula trees. These are renown for their fruit and its fast fermentation used to make the famous Marula beer well known in Southern Africa countries. Some of you may be familiar with the utube video of drunken wild animals after eating the fruit. It is also used to make Amarula Cream Liqueur.Marula fruit can also be eaten fresh out of hand or to make cordials. They have a large nut inside which can also be eaten but is hard to extract.
Marula trees are deciduous (lose their leaves in winter). They enjoy hot weather and are very drought tolerant.  We have also found they are also extremely fire retardent. Their limbs are quite fleshy. We have used them around the farm as shade trees. They are the favourite trees of our resident Tawny Frogmouths Birds in Summer.They can be tricky to propagate from seed but I have found a few tricks and now have lots available for sale. Plants are either Male or Female. You need one of each to produce fruit. We have various sizes available ranging from $33 to $125. We have both grafted and non grafted plants.
Plants need to be picked up from the nursery.We are happy to open up over the Christmas break providing you can give us notice.

I would love a few.

Like the trees but not the snakes

They look beautiful. I hope this doesn’t sound like a stupid question. But could you explain the difference between grafted and non grafted. Plus how do they handle the wind up here in White Peak. I am up on the hill so can be extremely windy.
