Working with Nature in our Drylands

Located in Geraldton, Western Australia we demonstrate dryland Permaculture and environmental conservation. We operate as a not-for-profit – The Drylands Foundation.

Seeds – Yilgarn Seeds: Organic heirloom vegetable and herbs

Plants – Permaculture Nursery: Locally grown for Geraldton and our Midwest

Learn – Drylands Permaculture: Sustainability by Design

Contribute – Drylands Foundation: Sustainability through social enterprise

About Us

Located in Geraldton, in the Midwest of Western Australia we demonstrate the practical application of Permaculture and environmental conservation. We operate as a not-for-profit environmental organisation – The Drylands Foundation.

Our enterprises that fund our work in conservation and sustainability include:

  • Permaculture Nursery – locally grown plants suited to Geraldton and our Midwest
  • Garden Honey – harvested by hand from our own on-farm bee hives
  • Yilgarn Seeds – an endemic and heirloom seeds business for dryland climates.

We offer environmental education and sustainability training as Permaculture practitioners, and are hosts for ‘Willing Workers On Organic Farms’ (WWOOF) and HelpX.

Tours of our farm and volunteering opportunities are available for individuals and organisations interested in learning more about Permaculture and sustainability in drylands environments.

Hi everyone, it's our busiest time of the year and we are organizing a 'potting up' working bee. We need help filling pots with our propagation soil mix for this years seedlings. The more hands the merrier. We will teach you our pot filling techniques.
Friday 19th and 26th 10-12pm
Saturday 20th and 27th 10-12pm
Just bring enclosed shoes, clothes you don't mind getting dirty, hat (we are working under shadecloth), sunscreen and water!
Please RSVP (no children sorry)

We've been out collecting seed (with the help of Punkie our Emu) and making soil mixes ready to start propagating new tubestock over summer, ready for the planting season in 2018.

Contact us about pre-orders or drop into our nursery for advice.

We also have plenty of existing sun and wind hardened stock which may be just what you are looking for and they are ready to plant out right now.
