Coastal Blackbutt



Small-medium tree or mallee naturally growing in our Midwest sandplains to around 5 metres, but occasionally taller to 8 metres.

Profuse white-cream flowers in summer that attract honey eaters and bees. Traditionally known as Dwutta and used medicinally.

Its spreading form make this a useful screening plant and windbreak for dry sandy soils, and rough bark and canopy an ideal habitat for birds, insects and lizards.

Form: Small-Medium Tree or Mallee
Size: 5m tall x 5m wide, occasionally larger to 8 metres.
Soil: Free draining sandy soils
Fertiliser: Not required
Water: Once to twice weekly for first year.
Wind: Tolerant
Sun: Full and Part Sun
Frost: Moderately tolerant
Flowers: Cream-White
