Chilian Wine Palm

Description

A rare distinctive, slow growing  palm from Chile, recognizable by its stout, gray trunk crowned with feathery spreading fronds.

Its sugary sap can be distilled into palm honey, and used to make wine.  Its fruit has a lovely flavour and texture.

Suited to Mediterranean and temperate climates; and able to withstand severe frosts. Suitable for coastal areas.

Size: 5m x 4m
Soil: Free draining
Fertiliser: Compost, blood and bone seasonally
Water: Two to three times a week but tolerates dry conditions
Wind: Tolerant
Sun: Full sun and part shade
Frost: Very Tolerant
